Developing a broader outcomes strategy and toolkit for the Ministry of Education
At the beginning of their journey, the Ministry of Education required a strategy to define their broader outcomes goals and tools/collateral/guidance material which could support their procurement staff to consistently embed broader outcomes across the various business groups.
How Height helped
Height supported the development of a strategy which articulated the why and how the Ministry would deliver broader outcomes through their $15 billion p.a spend. They sought to challenge business as usual and to better for their tamariki, whānau and communities and for the environment.
We worked across the different business groups to provide coaching on live projects to embed broader outcomes at various stages of the procurement lifecycle. These ranged from ICT, Digital Equity, Corporate Stationery to National Monitoring Study of Student Achievement.
In developing practical guidance that would meaningfully engage staff and support bold and brave action within procurement practice, we developed an illustration that spoke to the broader outcomes vision of te kainga / the community through the child’s eye view.
We supported the Ministry to identify broader outcomes champions from across the business groups to be part of the development of the tools and guidance so that when the project finished there were strong foundations internally for broader outcomes implementation.
