Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
As a Project Manager, you will work with Māori businesses referred to Height from Te Puni Kōkiri to uplift their business capability and support them with business development before, during and after a tender.
The range of services we provide to our Te Puni Kōkiri businesses are listed below. You would provide some of these services yourself and work with the wider Height team to provide other services. You would be the key point of contact and account manager coordinating all services for the businesses you are the named project manager on:

Marketing and communications

Graphic design and capability statements

Pitching and bid writing

Pricing and commercial advice

Contract negotiations and advice

Contract mobilisation

Ongoing contract/ client management

Personal business and industry coaching and mentoring.
You will also be part of the team that will support the implementation of social procurement within the wider business, supporting and engaging with Iwi and First Nations communities.
An understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Reo is beneficial to this role but not essential.
You will have experience in preparing effective, concise, and compelling content to deadlines. You are also likely to have commercial support in areas such as pricing and contract review.
Key Accountabilities of the Role
Strategy

Assist in the development of strategies to support Māori businesses in winning and being successful in delivering government or equivalent contracts.

Ensure Height’s activities are conducted in an ethical, professional, and appropriate manner, including regard to New Zealand’s diversity and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Planning and coordination

Support the TPK Programme Manager on managing the pipeline of candidate businesses

Project manage each business you are responsible for from onboarding through activities on the action plan (which you will develop), being flexible to changes to the action plan, within budget

Manage time to ensure all internal and customer timelines are achieved – communicate with team as needed to prioritise workload.

Complete reporting as required.
Managing businesses

Research best-practice methods and provide recommendations for improvement.

Provide business development and contract advice to the customer, with the support of others in the Height team as you need
-
Coordinate project inputs including workshop/meeting facilitation, writing, graphics, logistics and production.

Coordinate the inputs of different skillsets from across Height and externally
Financial and Job Management

Assist with the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for customers for TPK, with the support of the Senior PM and Programme Manager as required.

Ensure all project costs and time are captured in Workflow Max (or communicated to the programme manager by the end of each week)
Client relationship

Develop and maintain strong ‘trusted advisor’ relationships

Net Promoter scoring – coordinate with the team to ensure all NPS (Net Promoter Score) scoring is completed post project and when required.

Follow up on any unsatisfactory NPS result.
Cultural Advice
