Height had the pleasure of hosting senior international leaders in social procurement during last week’s inaugural Amotai Executive Exchange.
The event brought together 50 senior leaders of supplier diversity organisations from Canada, Australia and Aotearoa to explore procurement innovation, supplier diversity, and Indigenous economic development.
Height Principal of Social and Sustainable Outcomes, Beaufa Brown, says it was a privilege to welcome and learn from some of the world’s ultimate leaders in supplier diversity.
“We love the opportunity to connect people, cultures and ideas and to learn from global leaders. It’s always inspiring to hear how others are tackling the social procurement challenge.”
Our team shared how social procurement is creating lasting community outcomes through infrastructure projects in Aotearoa. We talked about our key success stories, including creating the first Sustainable Outcomes Toolkit for Auckland Council and leading a Capability Uplift Programme for 120 Māori businesses on behalf of Te Puni Kokiri.
We shared our experiences in Auckland at Tupu'anga Café, so delegates could experience the social enterprise, Affirming Works, before enjoying a Pasifika buffet lunch.
We also took delegates to Te Auaunga Creek in Mt Roskill to hear from Auckland sustainability leader, Tom Mansell, and see social procurement in action through one of Auckland's significant environmental restoration projects. The Te Auaunga daylighted creek was a project delivered by Auckland Council Healthy Waters, in line with the Sustainable Outcomes Toolkit.
The delegation also visited Te Puea Marae which Stronghold Group, a Māori-owned construction company, had recently been engaged to redevelop. Owners Karalee and Quincy shared how they are combining commercial success with social impact through apprenticeships, supplier diversity and community partnerships.
Ngā mihi nui to Amotai Supplier Diversity NZ for the opportunity to support this vital delegation.
This event was a great lead-in to Social Procurement Week Australasia that we’ll participate in during the first week of September.
